Uppuma Kozhikattai

Soft delicious Uppuma Kozhikattai is prepared from rice rava. Rice rava is obtained by grinding raw rice in blender to a coarse form. The Kozhikattais are easy to prepare and nutritious too. Uppuma Kozhikattai is wholesome and perfect as a breakfast dish. Uppuma Kozhikattai will simply melt in your mouth and children are usually a big fan of these dumplings. Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice Rava
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 1 tsp Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • 1" piece Ginger finely chopped
  • Green chillies finely chopped
  • Curry leaves A few
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida Kayam

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Uppuma Kozhikattai, first heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds followed by black gram, Bengal gram, curry leaves, asafoetida, ginger and green chillies.
  • Add water and salt.
  • When it reaches boiling consistency, slowly add rice rava and simmer in a very low flame.
  • Cover the pan and cook, stirring frequently.
  • Allow it to cool and shape into oval sizes.
  • Steam cook them for 2-3 minutes.
  • Uppuma Kozhikattais are ready.
