Dal Paalak

Combination of dal and paalak(spinach)

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Red gram Thuvaraparippu
  • 1 cup Spinach/Paalak chopped
  • 1 no Onion
  • 1 no Tomato
  • 1 no Slit chilly
  • 1 tsp Garlic Ginger Paste
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • For Seasoning:
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds Uluva
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Cut paalak and cook nicely with enough water.
  • Cook dal in a pressure cooker.
  • Cut tomato and onions finely.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add all the seasoning ingredients. When it splutters, add onions and chilli. Fry till onions become translucent.
  • Add garlic-ginger paste and fry for another minute.
  • Add finely chopped tomatoes. Stir occasionally, until done.
  • When it is done, add cooked dal and paalak.
  • Pour 1/2 cup of water, salt and sugar and bring it to boil.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
