Cut paalak and cook nicely with enough water.
Cook dal in a pressure cooker.
Cut tomato and onions finely.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add all the seasoning ingredients. When it splutters, add onions and chilli. Fry till onions become translucent.
Add garlic-ginger paste and fry for another minute.
Add finely chopped tomatoes. Stir occasionally, until done.
When it is done, add cooked dal and paalak.
Pour 1/2 cup of water, salt and sugar and bring it to boil.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
