Shavige Uppittu

Uppuma made with Vermicelli(Semiya)

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Vermicelli Semiya
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1/2 cup Grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup Peas
  • 2 nos Green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon juice
  • Sugar A pinch
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • For the Seasoning:
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 3 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • Take vermicelli and break it into small pieces.
  • In a pot, add about a cup of water and bring it to boil.
  • Add vermicelli into it.
  • Boil for another minute and turn off the heat. Let it be there for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Drain water and pour cold water on vermicelli. Again drain water and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the ingredients for the seasoning.
  • Add onion and slit chillies. Fry till it becomes soft.
  • Add grated carrot, fresh peas and keep stirring occasionally until all done.
  • Finally, add the cooked vermicelli into it and mix nicely.
  • Add salt, sugar and lemon juice.
  • Garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve hot.
