Mathi Nellika Vattichathu

Mathi Nellika Vattichathu is a traditional muslim recipe in malabar region.It is a unique combination dish,Sardines are paired with dried goosberries,pepper and cook with other few ingredients till dry.It is best served with cooked tapioca,chapathi.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kg Sardine
  • 2 Tomato
  • 2 Green chilly
  • 4 Dried goosberry
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seed
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seed
  • 2 tbsp Pepper corn
  • 1 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves little
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt as required

Instructions
 

  • Clean and wash sardine nicely.
  • Grind gooseberry,garlic and cumin seed together to make a fine paste.
  • In a bowl add sardine,chilly powder,turmeric powder,dried goosberry paste,salt,water and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a clay pot,spluttrr fenugreek seed and add tomato into it,saute for few seconds.
  • Add the sardine along with masala water.
  • Add curry leaves and cook the sardine till dry.
  • Mathi Nellika Vattichathu is ready to serve.
