Mudakathan Rasam

Mudakathan Rasam is prepared from a plant named Mudakathan Keerai, very popular in Tamil Nadu. The herb is effective in treatment of joint pain, arthritis and inflammation. Mudakathan Rasam should be included in meals at least once a week for a healthy body. Mudakathan Keerai also termed Baloon vine plant is effective for cold and cough too. Ingredients
  

  • 1 handful Mudakathan leaves
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves
  • Curry leaves Few
  • 1 no Tomato
  • 3 tsp Tamarind juice
  • 2 cups Water

Instructions
 

  • For preparing Mudakathan Rasam, first rinse the leaves and saute it for a minute.
  • Add water and cook it.
  • Add turmeric and salt.
  • In a mixer jar crush cumin, pepper, tomatoes, curry leafs and garlic.
  • Add this mixture to the boiling leaves.
  • Add tamarind water and let it boil.
  • Finally add the seasonings: curry leaves, red chili, hing, and mustard seeds to the Mudakathan Rasam and serve.
