Vellarikka (Cucumber) Pachhadi:

Vellarikka Pachadi/Kichadi is a very simple dish prepared with cucumber, coconut and yogurt. It is usually served as an accompaniment for rice

Ingredients
  

  • 1 No Vellarikka Cucumber
  • 2 cups Curd/Buttermilk
  • 1 cup Grated Coconut
  • 2 tspn Mustard seeds
  • Salt To Taste
  • 1 tspn Turmeric Powder
  • 3-4 Nos Sliced Green Chilli

Instructions
 

  • Peel the Vellarikka, cut it into small pieces
  • Wash the Vellarikka pieces well and remove water from it
  • Cook Vellarikka for about 15 minutes, adding sliced Green Chilli, Turmeric Powder and Salt with some water (required to cook the mix) in low flame.
  • When the Vellarikka is cooked well, add the Coconut- Mustard paste and Curd/Butter milk with it and stir the mix well.
  • This a very tasty, oil-free recipe and can be served with rice/Dosa etc.

Notes

Note: Grind the grated Coconut with the Mustard Seeds in paste form
and keep the paste separately
