Cabbage Spicy Poriyal (Muttaikoose Poriyal)
In south India cabbage is cooked in many different ways and one such common recipe is kara poriyal. It is a simple vegetarian South Indian dry curry with cabbage, coconut, and spices. This spicy curry with a hint of sweetness is a great way to include cabbage in your meals.

Cabbage 1 cup small onion 1/2cup red chili 2 no. bengal gram 1/4 cup curry leaves 1 bunch red chili powder 1 tsp salt to taste turmeric powder 1/2 tsp oil 4 tsp mustard 1 tsp broken urad dal 1/2 tsp cumin seed 1/2 tsp grated coconut 1/4 cup
soak the bengal gram in water for 10 minutes
chop the cabbage,onion, red chili and curry leaves
in a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken urad dal and cumin seeds
add onion,red chili and curry leaves and mix well until the onion turn into brown
add bengal gram and mix well
add salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder and mix well
add cabbage and mix well and allow for 3 minutes
add 2 glass of water to cabbage and allow to cook
once the water get dry and cabbage get cooked, add grated coconut and mix well and turn off the flame
