Pavakkai / Bitter Gourd Stir Fry

The bitter gourd stir fry is a very simple yet delicious dish which can be cooked. bitter gourd stir-fry with steaming hot rice on its own or with any flat bread.

Ingredients
  

  • Bitter Gourd / pavakkai 200g
  • onion 1 no.
  • tomato 1 no.
  • red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 5 tsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • broken urad dal 1/4 tsp
  • curry leaves 8 leaves
  • tamarind water 5 tsp

Instructions
 

  • chop the bitter gourd
  • chop the onion and tomato
  • in a kadai heat the oil and temper the mustard and broken urad dal
  • add curry leaves and onion and saute it until the onion turn into brown
  • add chopped bitter gourd and mix it and allow to cook for 5 minutes in medium flame
  • add chopped tomato and mix well
  • now add red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and tamarind water and mix well
  • allow to cook until the bitter gourd get cooked
  • now bitter gourd stir fry is ready. serve with rice
