For preparing the delicious Catla Fish Gravy dish, first clean and wash the Catla fish.
Prepare tamarind paste, coconut paste, onion paste and chop the onion, tomato and garlic.
In a kadai heat the oil and temper the mustard, broken urad dal, curry leaves and red chili.
Add onion, garlic and saute it for 2 minutes until the onion turn into brown
Add tomato and mix well.
In a bowl add tamarind paste, coconut paste, onion paste, turmeric powder, salt, red chili powder, and coriander powder and mix well.
Add the tamarind mixture into the kadai and mix well.
Allow to cook until the gravy gets thick.
Once the gravy gets thick, add fish and allow to cook the fish in low flame for 2 minutes and turn off the flame and close the lid for 5 minutes.
Now fish gravy is ready, serve with hot rice
