Dhalia Uppumavu

It ia a Fibre-rich broken wheat variation of the traditional semolina upma. It is healthy and good for diabetic people.

Ingredients
  

  • Dhaliya (Broken Wheat) .. 2 cups
  • ½ cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 tspn Chopped Ginger
  • 8 Curry leaves
  • 2 tspns Chopped Green Chillies
  • ½ cup Grated Coconut
  • 1 tspn Mustard Seeds
  • Salt To taste
  • 3 Coconut/Refined Oil
  • Water As required

Instructions
 

  • Soak the Dhaliya for about 5 minutes
  • Heat the Oil in a frying pan and add Mustard seeds in it
  • When the Mustard seeds are bursted, add the chopped Onion, Ginger, Green Chilli and Curry leaves and stir it for 3 – 4 minutes
  • When the colour of this mix turns into golden, add water and salt and let the water boil
  • When the water boils well, add the soaked Dhaliya and stir it
  • After the Dhailya is cooked properly, add grated Coconut and stir it further and change the Uppumav to a serving plate
  • Dhaliya Uppumav is ready and it can be served with Coconut/Onion Chutney or riped Bananas for break-fast/dinner
