Soak kadala for 5 to 6 hours in water.
Then heat a pan add oil in it and when its hot add mustard in to it .
When it splutters add onion, garlic and ginger to it.
Stir well and then add curry leaves to it.
Then add salt ,coriander powder and stir for 2 minutes .
Then add chilly powder, turmeric powder and stir well.
Then add the soaked gram dal to it and stir well add 1 cup water or as needed.
Then close the pan or pressure cooker until it gets cooked.
When it gets cooked transfer to the serving dish.
For cooking it will take only 15 minutes if its in a pressure cooker.
