Dal (equal quantites of toovar dal, masoor dal and yellow moon dal) : 1 cup
Mustard seeds : ½ tsp
Whole jeera : ½ tsp
Cinnamon : 1 small pc
Cloves : 2 nos
Tomatoes finely chopped : 2 medium size
Onions finely chopped : 2 medium size
3nosGreen chilies finely chopped : 2
Doodhi cubed : 1 cup
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
CorianderCumin powder : ½ tsp
Red chilli powder : 1 tsp
Garam masala powder : ½ tsp
Salt : to taste
Instructions
Soak the dal in hot water for 15- 20 minutes and boil in a pressure cooker and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add the rye, jeera, cloves, cinnamon stick and curry patta.3) Add finely chopped onions and green chillies and fry till golden brown.
Add the chopped tomatoes, dry masala powders and salt and cook covered on a low flame till the oil separates from the masala.
You can add a little water if the masala sticks to the bottom of the pan.6) When the masala is cooked add the cubed doodhi / white pumpkin.
Cover the pan and cook for 15 minutes till the doodhi is cooked.8) Add the boiled dal and cook for another 5 minutes till the dal is well blended.
Garnish with chopped coriander and a squeeze of lemon juice.
