Plantain Stem ( Vazha Pindi) Poriyal 
Banana tree is the only plant which is useful to us from leaves to stem. Plantain stem is a nutritional rich veggie. It is rich in fiber and very good diet for diabetic patients too.

plantain stem        1 small size onion                    1/2 cup red chili                  3 no. grated coconut        1/5 cup salt                          to taste turmeric powder       1/2 tsp oil                              4 tsp mustard                    1/2 tsp broken urad dal        1/4 tsp channa dal                 1/2 tsp curry leaves                    1 bunch chop  plantain stem into small pieces and boil them in water
 drain it
 In a pan heat the oil and temper the mustard ,channa dal, broken urad dal , curry leaves,and add chopped  onions, red chili and saute it
 add the cooked stem with salt and turmeric
add grated coconut and mix it
 serve hot with rice
