Kanjeevaram Idli

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1 cup Black gram Uzhunnuparippu
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 cup Coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds Jeerakam
  • 1/2 tsp Bengal gram Kadalaparippu
  • Green chillies As reqd
  • 1/2 inch Ginger
  • Curry leaves A few
  • Asafoetida A pinch, Kayam
  • Turmeric powder A pinch
  • 3/4 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Soak rice and black gram for a few hours.
  • Wash and grind to a coarse batter adding enough water.
  • Keep it overnight for fermentation. 4)Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and sautT.
  • Add it to the batter along with the salt.
  • :- Make sure that the batter is thick.
  • Steam in Idli moulds or greased plate for 10 - 20 mins. :-Serve hot with tomato chutney or Sambhar.
