For the curry

  • 2 Cups Vegetables You can use any vegetables chopped into small pieces. Include a tomato too.
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 3/4 Tsp Red chilly powder
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Sambar powder
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Grated
  • Salt As required

For tempering

  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Mustard
  • 1/4 Tsp Cumin seed
  • 1/4 Tsp Fennel seed
  • 1 Tsp garlic Chopped
  • 3 Nos Shallots Chopped
  • Curry leaves Few


  • Pressure cook all the veggies with turmeric powder, red chilly powder, sambar powder and salt for one whistle.
  • Add grated coconut and combine well. Cook for another few minutes.
  • In the mean time, heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds and add all the ingredients that comes under tempering. Saute till the shallots turn light brown in colour.
  • Pour this in to the sambar mixture.
  • Sambar is ready now.
