Clean Ponnanganni Cheera, and put them in a plate/bowl. Add some normal water and keep it in water for about 15 – 20 minutes.
After about 15 – 20 minutes, take them out from the water and chop into small pieces as shown in the picture.
Heat oil in a cheenachatti/frying pan and add chopped onion/shallot pieces. Stir it well. When colour of the onion pieces turns golden, add chopped green chilli pieces. Stir well. After 2 – 3 minutes, add the Ponnanganni Cheera pieces along with required quantity of salt. Stir it further (no water should be added). Cover the pan with a lid and cook in medium flame.
When the cheera is cooked well, put off the stove and add grated coconut into it. Stir it well,
Ponnanganni Cheera Thoran is ready. Serve the tasty and healthy side dish with cooked rice.
