Kovakkai Varuval

Kovakkai Fry, Tindora Fry. A tasty, healthy and delicious fry made with kovakkai/tindora that goes well as an accompaniment to rice. Kovakkai is a very popular and common vegetable prepared in all most all the houses in South India.

  • Kovakkai 100gm
  • red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • maida 1/2 tsp
  • corn flour 1 tsp
  • rice flour 1 tsp
  • oil 4 tsp


  • cut the kovakkai
  • in a bowl add kovakkai, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, maida, corn flour and rice flour and mix well
  • heat the oil in the kadai
  • add kovakkai mix and allow to cook for 10 mins in medium flame
  • cook until the kovakkai get cooked
  • now kovakkai varuval is ready to serve
