Mutta Puttu | Egg Puttu

A

Mutta Puttu is an innovative and quick breakfast dish to finish off leftover Puttu. When puttu comes in excess it is usually very difficult to finish off. Puttu tends to become hard and losses its charm if kept for a few hours. Mutta Puttu is a quick and easy process to revive the lost charm. When blended with eggs and masala powders, puttu is recreated into a wonderful snack that you can relish with a cup of hot chai. Egg Puttu is healthy, wholesome and very filling too. Kids like the snack and it serves a good after-school snack. You can reduce the chilly flavor if kids are involved. The measurements are meant for grown ups and I feel it is apt for them. This recipe will come in handy when unexpected guests arrive and you want to treat them. As an option, you can also add some shreds of cooked chicken that will add more flavor. But in this recipe I haven’t added chicken.

The uniqueness of Mutta Puttu is that it does not require any side dish like kadala curry etc. You can enjoy the dish for breakfast, lunch or even for dinner. The overall texture is very appealing. A few months back, i came to know about this dish at a friend’s place. I jotted down the recipe and made my first trial at home. It was a success and ever since Egg Puttu has become a favorite with us. A tip for vegetarians- you can replace eggs with some fresh veggies of your choice. I tried the vegetarian version too and surprisingly my little kid seemed to like it. That was a relief for me since he was stubborn consuming vegetables. You can discover a well detailed Mutta Puttu recipe here that can be easily prepared at home.
