This is a delicious South Indian side dish with bitter gourd served as an accompaniment with the boiled rice. It is nutritious and has enormous health benefits.

Ingredients
- bitter gourd 2nos. -
- sliced onions 2 cups -
- sliced tomatoes 2 cups -
- mustard seeds channa dal, urad dal 1 spoon together -
- chilli powder 1 tea spoon -
- turmeric powder 1/4 spoon -
- Salt to taste -
- grated coconut 3 spoons -
- oil 3 table spoons -

Instructions
- slice bitter gourd and onions to thin and long
- heat pan , add oil, and add mustard seeds, channa dal and urad dal
- add onion saute until it turns transparent, now add slit bitter gourd to it
- when it is half cooked add tomatoes to it
- add chilli powder ,salt and stir gently until oil seperates
- finally add grated coconut and remove from fire

this has to be prepared very slowly in a low flame without adding water to it.
