Cucumber Yogurt Salad | Cucumber Raita


Cucumber Yogurt Salad makes for a refreshing and very enjoyable accompaniment to a main course of any non vegetarian or vegetarian delicacy. It also makes for a tasty accompaniment with pita bread. In this recipe the salad cucumbers are chopped but if grated that serves as a dip too. We consume a lot of hot and spicy foods and the only way of cooling down the system is with the delicious combination of Cucumber Raita. This is one of the easiest side dishes that can be prepared in a jiffy. I mean almost in a few minutes practically less than 5 minutes. Cucumber Yogurt Salad is a basic dish, quite easy and simple. The sauteed ginger and onions add a fine crunch and flavor to the salad. And the tempering with coconut oil gives a traditional touch to the dish. Mix the yogurt well with the cucumber. And mixing well is what does the final trick before serving . Cucumber Yogurt Salad | Cucumber Raita

For tempering

  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 nos. Green chilly
  • 2 nos. Dried Red chilly
  • Curry leaves Few


  • Heat oil in a pan and add crushed ginger. Saute for 10 seconds.
  • Then add onion and saute for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.
  • Now add sliced salad cucumber and saute for again 3-4 minutes. Add salt as required in this stage.
  • Pour yogurt and mix well. Turn off the flame.
  • In a separate pan, prepare the tempering by heating a little oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add green chilly, curry leaves and dry red chilies. Top it over the curry and enjoy!
