Horse gram is rich in healing properties and is popularly given to new mothers, heavily menstruating women and children who need to become stronger. Horsegram / Kollu is such a flavorful lentil. Its one of the healthiest too. It tastes well with rice and idli too. The curry has a very strong delicious aroma that will fill the kitchen as you cook.

- Horsegram 100 g -
- Bottle Gourd 50g -
- small onion 15 no. -
- Tomato : 1 no -
- tamarind juice 1/4 cup -
- red chili 2 no. -
- sambar powder 2 tsp -
- Kuzhambu Milagai powder 2 tsp -
- Turmeric Powder: 1 tsp -
- Salt to taste -
- coconut paste 1/4 cup -
- Oil : 3 tbsp -
- mustard 1/4 tsp -
- urad dal 1/4 tsp -
- bengal gram 1/4 tsp -
- cumin seed 1/4 tsp -
- curry leaves 1 sprinkle -

Instructions
- cook the Horse gram by adding water and salt and allow for 3 whistle
- Heat the oil in the pan and temper the mustard, bengal gram and urad dal
- saute the onion and red chili for 2 mins and add bottle gourd, tomato and fry well
- add salt, turmeric powder, sambar powder and kuzhambu milagai powder and mix well
- add tamarind juice and mix well
- add boiled horsegram and mix well and allow to cook for 5 mins
- add coconut paste and mix well
- add required water and allow to cook until it comes gravy consistency
- Kollu ( horse gram) puli kuzhambu is ready to serve. serve with rice
