Nenthrakkaya (Raw Banana) Chips

banana chips is undoubtedly the most popular Kerala snack for all occasion commonly available everywhere. A very good snack for tea time

  • Peel the Nenthrakkaya (raw Bananas) and put them into the turmeric water and keep it in the turmeric water for about 10 minutes
  • After about 10 minutes, take the raw bananas out from the turmeric water and allowit to dry for about 5 minutes, to remove the water from the bananas
  • Cut the raw Bananas into four pieces as shown in below picture
  • Then cut them further into small and thin pieces
  • Heat Oil in a frying pan and put the cut pieces of Bananas into this hot oil and stir it well
  • Allow to fry the raw Banana pieces till it turns crispy and the colour into golden
  • Add one or two teaspoons of salt mixed water into this fried raw Banana pieces and stir it for 1-2 minutes more
  • Take out the fried chips from the frying pan and keep it in an air tight jar/tin
  • This chips can serve as a snack with evening coffee/tea or cool drinks etc.
