Paalak Soup

An easy and delicious soup

  • 250 gm Paalak Spinach
  • 1/2 of Onion big
  • 2 nos Bay leaves Karuga/Vazhana ela
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 small Cinnamon Karugapatta
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • Salt As reqd
  • 1 tbsp Oil


  • Heat the oil in a pan.
  • Add the cinnamon and bay leaves.
  • Add the coarsely chopped onion and fry for 2 mins.
  • Add the washed spinach leaves.
  • Reduce heat to sim and saute for 5 mins or till the spinach is wilted.
  • Remove from fire and keep aside to cool.
  • Blend the mixture in a blender or mixer with little water.
  • :- Remove the bay leaf and cinnamon stick before blending.
  • Return the paste to pan and add the amount of water required to your desired consistency.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Add milk, pepper and salt.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 2 mins.
  • Add butter.
  • :- Serve hot.

    It is lovely and delicious, I admit was a bit apprehensive about trying it, but it tasted too good, now we have it once a week. keep up the good work
