Ulli Vada is a crispy tea-time snack, very popularly served in almost all tea stalls ranging through Kerala public roads. During monsoons, Ulli Vada tastes heavenly with a cup of piping hot tea. Relishing simple pleasures in life is affordable and comfortable for the general masses. Ulli Vada is a fried vada made with thinly sliced onions and thick maida gram flour batter.
Ulli Vada is crispy and fluffy on the outside and soft inside. Mix together sliced onions with gram flour, maida and other ingredients to make a thick batter. You should be able to round the batter in your hand palm and make a hole in centre. Fry the Ulli Vada in hot boiling oil to a crispy golden brown colour. Cherishing a plate of fried Ulli Vadas with onion chutney is simply nostalgic.
