Vadas made with potato stuffing

Ingredients
- Potatoes - 1/2 kg
- Garlic pods - 4 nos
- Ginger - 1/2 "
- Green chillies(finely chopped) - 2 nos
- Coriander leaves(As reqd) -
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds(A little, Jeerakam) -
- Curry leaves(A few) -
- Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -
- Turmeric powder(A pinch) -
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Oil for frying -
- Green chillies - 3 nos
For the Batter:
- Gram flour(Kadala podi) - 1 1/2 cups
- Wheat flour - 1/2 cup
- Cumin powder(A pinch, Jeerakam) -
- Coriander powder(A pinch) -
- Red chilly powder(A pinch) -
- Salt(As reqd) -

Instructions
- For making the filling: 1)Boil the potatoes.
- Peel them off and cut them into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Add finely chopped chillies and saute.
- Add turmeric powder.
- Add potatoes and salt.
- Stir well and cook for two minutes.
- Add the ground paste and stir well.
- Make small round balls of the above mixture and keep them aside.
- For making the Batter: 1)Mix together gram flour or besan and wheat flour.
- Add all the powders together and make a smooth batter.
- For making aloo vada: 1)Dip the potato balls into the batter and fry them till they become golden brown in colour.
- :- Serve hot with fried green chillies or coconut chutney.
