Channa Dal Papaya curry is a traditional kerala recipe.Channa dal is a common ingredient used to make vegetable curries.Here is one recipe where I have used channa dal along with raw tastes best with steamed rice.

  • 100 g Channa Dal
  • 1 small Papaya
  • 1 Green chilly
  • 3/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cup Water
  • For Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 3 Dry red chilly
  • 4 Shallots chopped


  • Whash the channa dal
  • Cut the papaya into small pieces.
  • Take a pressure cooker add channa dal,pappaya,turmeric powder,green chilly and salt
  • Add water and close the lid.wait for 5 whistles to come.
  • For seasoning heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard in it.add shallots,dry red chilly, saute for few seconds and turn off the flame
  • Mix it with the curry
  • Channa Dal papaya curry is ready to goes well with steamed rice.
