  • For preparing the delicious green papaya thoran dish, first pressure cook green papaya pieces with turmeric and salt in little water (approximately 3 whistles). Or you can cook it covered in a vessel along with turmeric powder and salt, till done. Papaya pieces should not be over cooked.
  • Grind together coconut, garlic and cumin to a coarse mixture. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai. Splutter mustard seeds and saute curry leaves.
  • Fry onion till pinkish in color.
  • Add chilly powder.
  • Add green papaya pieces and coconut mixture and cook till all the water is gone.
