  • 1 1/2 cup,soak Kadala chickpeas
  • 2 nos Raw banana kaya
  • 10 nos Bird eye chilly(kandhari mulak kandhari mulak
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup,grated Coconut
  • Salt as required
  • For Seasoning
  • 4 Shallots chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • curry leaves little


  • Add chickpeas,cut banana,bird eye chilly,turmeric powder and salt in a pressure cooker
  • Pour 2 cup water and pressure cook for 5-6 whistles.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed,when it starts splutter add shallots and curry leaves,saute for 10 seconds and mix it with the puzhukk.
  • Grind the grated coconut with cumin seed
  • Mix it with the puzhukk and cook again for 2 minutes.
  • Kadala kaya puzhukk is ready to serve.serve with rice or kanji.
