Luqaimath ( Sweet Dumplings )

It is a traditional Arabic sweet dumplings. It is a common Ramadan dish among Arabs.

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 Water
  • 2 1/4 cup Warm milk
  • 1 tsp Yeast
  • 3 tbsp Yogurt
  • 2 1/2 cup Maida
  • 3 tbsp Corn flour
  • Salt to taste.
  • Oil for frying.


  • Mix warm milk, yoghurt and yeast together.
  • Mix maida, corn flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Then add milk mixture to the bowl to make a batter,(It is neither too watery nor too thick) and keep it aside for half an hour.
  • After half an hour, the batter will rise enough. Heat oil in a wok, drop a small portion of the batter in oil using spoon.
  • Fry till it becomes golden brown colour. Drain and put fried dumplings in sugar syrup, coat well, take out and serve.
  • For the syrup, add sugar and water, boil it for three minutes. Allow it to cool.
  • Enjoy the sweety Luqaimath with your family.
