Ingredients
- vazhaithandu / plantain 1 stem -
- grated coconut 1/4 cup -
- Onion : 1 no -
- red chili 2 no. -
- split moong dal 1/5 cup -
- Salt to taste -
- cumin seed 1/2 tsp -
- Oil: 2 tbsp -
- mustard 1/4 tsp -
- broken urad dal 1/4 tsp -
- curry leaves 1 sprinkle -

Instructions
- soak the split moong dal in water for 5 mins
- chop the plantain / vazhai thandu and put it in water
- chop the onion, red chili
- in a kadai temper the mustard and broken urad dal
- add curry leaves, onion and red chili and saute it for 5 mins
- add chopped plantain/ vazhaithandu and mix it
- add soaked moong dal and salt and mix well
- add one glass water and allow to cook
- Mean while add coconut and cumin seed and make powder
- add this powder to vazhaithandu, mix it
- now thengai vazhaithandu poriyal
