Tomato and Red gram(Thuvaraparippu) curry

  • Pressure cook dal upto 3 - 4 whistles.
  • Mash the dal well and keep it aside.
  • Heat a tsp of ghee.
  • Splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add asafoetida and saute it.
  • Add cut tomatoes, curry leaves and green chillies.
  • Cover and cook, till the tomatoes are done.
  • Add the mashed dal and mix well.
  • :- Serve hot with rice or rotis.

    Slightly different than any usual daal but still pretty good over all……. it definitely has some nice taste…. more south indian flavor.
