Tuna Thoran A fast dish from canned Tuna fish 300 gm Tuna in water (pounded into small flakes)3/4 cup Grated coconut (or desiccated coconut)1/2 tsp Garlic (chopped)1 tsp Ginger (chopped)4 nos Green chillies (chopped)2 nos Onion (chopped, medium)1/2 tsp Turmeric powder1/2 tsp Red chilly powder1/4 tsp Black pepper powderGaram masala powder (A pinch)2 - Kukum star (Kudam Puli)1 sprig Curry leaves1/2 cup WaterSalt (As reqd)For seasoning:2 tsp Oil1 tsp Mustard seeds2 - Dry chillies (Kollamulaku)3 nos Pearl onions (sliced, Kunjulli)Curry leaves (A few) Heat oil in a kadai or a pan.Add mustard seeds & when they start to splutter, add the dry chillies, curry leaves & sliced pearl onions and saute for a few seconds.Add the chopped garlic, ginger & green chillies. When the raw flavour of garlic & ginger goes, add the chopped onions. Saute, till the onions start being transparent.Add the turmeric & red chilly powder & saute for a few seconds.Add the pounded tuna flakes to this and mix well to fry for 2 - 3 mins.Add the black pepper powder & grated coconut with salt and mix well.Add kodam puli & sprinkle about 1/2 cup of water & close the pan with a lid. Let it cook for 2 - 3 mins on low flame.Remove the lid, add a pinch of garam masala and fry till all the water evaporates.:- Serves nice with chappaties, rice & even as stuffing for sandwiches. This is a quick and easy recipe. It`s very good if you dont have time to make a lot of kutaan. YOu can put this together in ten minutes if you have tuna handy..
