Vermicelli Uppumavu

It is a tasty, traditional breakfast dish in south india. The kids will like the noodle like texture of this upma.

  • -1 cup Roasted vermicelli
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • 6 Curry leaf
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 Green chilli


  • Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard when mustard splutters add urad dal fry them till they get golden brown colour.
  • Add onions,curry leaves i and green chilly saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup of water and salt to this and let the mixture come to boil.
  • Low the flame and add roasted vermicelli stir and cook vermicelli till it becomes soft and all the water is absorbed.
  • Keep on stiring in between.When vermicelli is fully cooked and water is fully absorbed switch off the fire.
  • Now vermicelli is ready to serve.
