Ingredients
- Oil(Gingely oil preferred) - 50 ml
- kadugu - 2 tbsp
- Menthyl seeds(venthayam) - 1/2 tbsp
- Red gram(Thuvaraparippu) - 1 tbsp
- Onions(medium) - 3 nos
- Sambar powder - 3 tbsp
- Tamarind(A big lemon sized, Puli) -
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Curry leaves(A few) -
- Asafoetida(Kayam) -

Instructions
- Heat oil in a tava.
- Add the cumin seeds, menthyl seeds and red gram.
- When the dhal becomes golden in colour, add the onions and fry them till it`s golden brown.
- Add the sambar powder and fry for 1 min.
- Add salt and allow it to boil for 10 - 15 mins, until it thickens to a gravy.
- Add curry leaves and asafoetida.
- :- Serve it with hot rice.
