SCIENTIFIC NAME :
Anacardium Occidentale

MEDICINAL VALUE :
CNSL, a byproduct of processing cashew, is used effectively against tooth abscesses. The bark is scraped and soaked overnight or boiled as an antidiarrhea. The nut oil is used topically as an antifungal and for healing cracked heels.

NUTRIENT VALUE :
The cashew apple is rich in nutrients and contains five times more vitamin C than an orange.

CULINERY AND OTHER VALUES :
In parts of South America, natives regard cashew apple as a delicacy. Cashew apple is also used to make preserves, chutneys and jams in some countries such as India and Brazil.
