Ingredients
- Churakka(Bottle gourd) - 1 No
- Red chilli powder - 2 tspns
- Sliced onion(preferably Pearl Onion) - ¼ cup
- Grated Coconut - ½ cup
- Cumin seeds - 1 tspn
- Salt(To taste) -
- Turmeric powder - 1 tspn
- Coconut/Refined Oil - 3-4 tspns
- Bengalgram dhal(Kadalaparippu) - 2 tspns

Instructions
- Heat Oil and then add Bengal gram dhal and Cumin seeds in the oil and stir it well
- Add sliced Onion also
- Add Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt and stir it for about 3-5 minutes
- When the colour of this mix turns into golden, add the Churakka pieces and stir it further, cover it with a plate and allow to cook for about 10-15 minutes time.
- When the upperi is cooked well, put off the stove and add grated Coconut with itand serve as a side dish for lunch/dinner
