Wash and clean the bindi and cut lengthwise and keep it aside
Heat kadai and add oil to fry the cut bindi and a pinch of salt.
Remove from flame when the bindi is cooked completely.
Cut the onion and tomato lengthwise into thin strips and finely chop the ginger and garlic.
Heat oil in a tawa and add the ginger and garlic fry till the smell goes
Add onion and sauté till it becomes translucent and then add tomato and fry for a minute.
Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt(add salt that’s required only for the masala since bindi is fried by adding salt)
The powder and the onion, tomato mixture should blend nicely.
Now add the fried bindi to this masala
Fry until the masala coats with the bindi
Serve with chapathi or curd rice.
Notes
Variation: For those who do not prefer sweet taste can skip adding the tomatoes.
