Upma made from leftover idlis

  • Soak black gram for 1 hour and grind it.
  • Mix 3 times idli rava and keep the batter for 8 hrs.
  • Prepare idli from that rava.
  • When idli becomes cold, smash it and make it as normal mixture.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add a pinch of asafoetida, curry leaves and green chillies.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till they turn golder brown in color.
  • Add idli mixture, salt, lemon juice and a bit of sugar.
  • Mix it properly and keep it for 3 - 4 mins to cook.

    You said idlis that are left over????? but not mentioned about that here??

    I oftenly prepare idlis and always it remains for the next days. I tried preparing this upma , it is really very very tasty. And my family members donot really makeout that the upma is prepared from yesterdays idlis.
