- Kadala(chickpeas) - 1 1/2 cup,soak
- Raw banana(kaya) - 2 nos
- Bird eye chilly(kandhari mulak(kandhari mulak) - 10 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Coconut - 1 cup,grated
- Salt(as required) -
- For seasoning: -
- Shallots(chopped) - 4
- Mustard - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves(little) -

- Add chickpeas,cut banana,bird eye chilly,turmeric powder and salt in a pressure cooker
- Pour 2 cup water and pressure cook for 5-6 whistles.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed,when it starts splutter add shallots and curry leaves,saute for 10 seconds and mix it with the puzhukk.
- Grind the grated coconut with cumin seed
- Mix it with the puzhukk and cook again for 2 minutes.
- Kadala kaya puzhukk is ready to serve.serve with rice or kanji.
