Kerala Easy Kaalan Chena/Kkai cooked in thick buttermilk 3 cups Thick Butter milk (Moru)2 cups Yam&Raw Bananas(Paccha Kkai)(cut into thin slices) (Chena)1 tsp Turmeric powder1 tsp Fenugreek powder (Uluva)1 tsp Black pepper powder1/2 cup Grated coconut2-3 nos Green chilliesSalt (As reqd)1 tbsp Oil1/4 tsp Mustard seedsCurry leaves (A few) Grind together the grated coconut and the green chillies.Cook yam and bananas in buttermilk with turmeric powder till soft. Add salt, ground paste and cook for few minutes.Heat the coconut oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves and stir fry. i tried this recipe for vishu and it turn out really delicious after a small modification, I added a some cumin seeds to coconut and green chilli grind to paste
