Kovakkai (Ivy Gourd) Fry

Kovakkai (Ivy gourd) Fry is a delicious Indian recipe served as a Side Dish normally served with hot boiled rice. This is a spicy fry where the kovakkai is marinated with the spices and deeply fried in oil.

  • Clean, Wash and cut the Kovakkai (Ivy gourd) in round shape (as shown in above picture).
  • Add Sambar Powder and Salt into the Kovakkai pieces and mix it well and keep it aside to coat the masala on the pieces properly.
  • Heat Oil in a frying pan/Cheenachatty. Then put the masala (prepared with Sambar Powder and Salt) coated Kovakkai (Ivy gourd) pieces into the hot Oil and stir it occasionally.
  • When the colour of Kovakkai pieces turns into brown, take the pieces out from the frying pan/Cheenachatty (by using a Sieve) and keep them in a plate and serve
