Mackerel Cutlets are very healthy fish delicacies, very popular in Kerala Cuisine. This is a super tasty, authentic and a crowd pleaser dish. These cutlets serve as favorite starter dishes. Mackerel fishes are well known for their strong fishy flavor. This is one of the easiest and tastiest of fish delicacies that requires just a few minutes for preparation. The crispy, fried fish delicacy is very tasty and real tempting and you will never be content with one. Mackerel fishes are oily fishes rich in protein and other valuable nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids. The dish is unique and special with steamed mackerel bits blended with mashed potato and other spicy ingredients like garam masala, pepper etc. and finally deep fried into crispy cutlets. Mackerels are well known for its nutritive qualities and it is advised that you should consume the fish daily for healthy tomorrows.   • For preparing the delicious cutlet, first clean the fish and discard the head. Wash well and drain.
  • Marinate the fish with salt and trumeric and steam cook till done.
  • When the fish has cooled down, remove the bones and the skin.
  • Crumble the fish.
  • Remove the skin of the potato and and crumble it when it is still warm.
  • Mix it well with the fish. Keep aside.
  • In a big wok, add little oil.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, green chilly, coriander leaves, curry leaves and ginger.
  • When it changes colour, add garam masala and pepper powder.
  • Cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Add the fish and potato mixture. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Once the mixture has cooled, divide into balls that are slightly bigger than limes.
  • Flatten them with the help of a table spoon.
  • Dip in egg.
  • Roll them in bread crumbs.
  • Deep fry on medium fire till golden brown.
  • :- Serve hot.

    Very tasty,does not have the bad taste of Omega -3.
