- Moong dal(Cherupayar parippu) - 1/2 cup
- Tomato(chopped) - 2 nos
- Ginger(chopped) - 1/2 tsp
- Green chilly(chopped) - 2 nos
- Turmeric powder(A pinch) -
- Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Mint leaves(Few) -

Instructions
- First sautT chillies, cumin seeds and ginger in hot oil.
- Stir in asafoetida, chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder.
- Add soaked moong dal and enough boiled water to cook dal.
- Cook covered till the moong dal is done. Season with salt. Add tomatoes and cook until it blends well with dal. Pour the ghee over the cooked dal and sprinkle mint leaves.
