Neer Pusanikai / White Pumpkin Sambhar

Sambar is south indias favorite main dish.White pumpkin sambar is one kind of vegetables which accompaniment with Idli, dosa and rice. I have this sambar happily with chappathi too.

  • boil the thoor dal by adding water, turmeric powder, garlic, tomato,castrol oil and salt
  • once it get boiled, smash the thoor dal by beeter
  • chop the onion, tomato, red chili and white pumpkin
  • heat the oil in the pan and temper the mustard, and broken urad dal
  • add curry leaves and small onion and saute it until it turn into brown
  • add tomato, red chili, green chili and asafoetida and mix well
  • add chopped white pumpkin and mix well
  • add crystal salt and mix well and allow to cook for 2 mins
  • add sambhar powder and mix well and allow to cook for 5 mins
  • add required water and allow to cook for 5 mins
  • now add tamarind water and allow to cook until the sambhar gets thick
  • garnish with coriander leaves now white pumpkin sambhar is ready
