Simple evening snack with left over idlis.

  • 6 nos Leftover idli diced into 1 inch squares
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp Urad dhal Uzhunnu parippu
  • 1/2 tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 4 tbsp Idli podi
  • 3 tbsp Oil


  • Heat oil in a deep vessel.
  • Add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the urad dhal, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • Add the Idli podi and mix thoroughly for a few seconds using a wooden ladle. :- Its easier to mix the idlis with a wooden ladle without breaking them.
  • Now add the idlis and mix thoroughly.
  • Once the idlis are nicely coated with the idli podi mixture, saute for a few more minutes and remove from fire.
  • Serve hot with curd as a dip.
  • Tips:- 1)You can also finely chop an onion and saute till they become pink. Then add the idli powder. Garnish with coriander leaves if adding onion.
