Snake Gourd (Kerala Padavalanga Thoran) Snake gourd Yummy thoran with Padavalanga 500 gm Padavalanga (cleaned and cut into small pieces, Snake gourd)1 no Onion (finely chopped, large)2 - Shallots (finely chopped, Kunjulli)2 nos Garlic pods (chopped)2 - Curry leaves1/2 tsp Mustard seeds2 nos Dry Red chillies (Kollamulaku)1/2 tsp Chilly powderTurmeric powder (A pinch)1 tbsp OilSalt (As reqd)1/2 cup Grated coconut Heat oil in a pan.Splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies & curry leaves.Add onion, shallots & garlic and saute for 4 mins.Add padavalanga, chilly powder, turmeric powder and saute for 5 mins on medium flame.Add salt & water.Cook on low flame for 5 - 10 mins, till padavalanga is cooked.Add grated coconut and mix well.:- Snake Gourd Thoran is ready.:- Serve Snake Gourd Thoran hot with rice.:- You can add 1/4 tsp of any curry powder or garam masala for flavour in step 3.
