Soft & easy vellayappam without coconut

  • 2 cups Pachari/Idli ari
  • 2 tbsp Black gram Uzhunnu
  • 1/2 cup Cooked rice
  • 1/2 tsp Yeast
  • Salt As reqd


  • Soak pachari/idli rice & black gram for about 8 hrs.
  • Grind well the soaked rice & black gram along with the cooked rice.
  • Add yeast and mix well.
  • Leave this till the mixture rises.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Heat a tawa and make soft appams.
  • :- Serve hot with chicken or egg curry.

    the appams came out looking like dosas.why do u add urad dal to it?
