Spicy Mango Chutney (Manga Thokku)

  • 1 piece Green Mango preferably hard
  • 4 tsp Salt
  • 8 tsp Chilly powder
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek Uluva
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed Kaduku
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 as Asafoetida


  • Peel the mango and grate it.
  • Fry the fenugreek seeds on a hot pan without oil and grind it to make a powder.
  • Heat oil on a pan and fry mustard seeds.
  • When the seeds pop add the grated mango to it.
  • Add salt to this mixture while frying.
  • When the mixture gets thick add asafoetida, turmeric powder and fenugreek powder.
  • Keep it on low fire until the mixture becomes a thick paste and not soggy.
