Ingredients
- Semolina(Rava/Sooji) - 2 cups
- Ground nuts(Nelakadala) - 1 cup
- Green chillies(cut into pieces) - 4 -
- Ginger(grated) - 1" piece
- Water - 4 cups
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida(optional)(A pinch, Kayam) -
- Curry leaves(A few) -
For garnishing:
- Coriander leaves -
- Shredded Capsicum -
- Grated Carrot -
- Mint leaves(Pudhina) -

Instructions
- Heat a pan.
- Dry roast the ground nuts and grind it into a very coarse powder.
- In the same pan, add oil.
- When it is hot enough, add mustard seeds.
- When mustard seeds splutter, add asafoetida, curry leaves and rava or sooji.
- Fry it by mixing continuously, till the rava slightly changes the color and becomes more aromatic.
- Meanwhile, in a vessel, pour 4 cups of water and bring it to boil.
- Pour the hot water onto the rava carefully.
- Immediately, add salt and coarse ground nuts and mix it well making sure no lumps are formed.
- Cook, till it gets the consistency of regular uppuma.
- Once cooked, switch off the flame and close the lid of the pan and leave it for couple of minutes.
- Garnish with the chosen/available items.
- :- Serve it in any desired shape.
- :- This uppuma is highly nutritious and tasty.
