This is tamil traditional recipe. Mostly in marriage function we use to prepare and for evening snack is good to have. This urullai bonda is soft inside and crispy in outside. This is tasty and can use to serve with pav breads too.

  • 2 boiled Potato
  • 1 chopped Onion
  • ½ tsp Red chili powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • ½ tsp Asafeotida
  • ½ cup Besan flour
  • ¼ cup Rice flour
  • Oil for frying


  • In pan heat oil and sauté onion
  • Now add red chili powder ½ , salt and turmeric ¼ tsp sauté
  • Now add mashed potato and mix well and allow to cool
  • Make small size ball.
  • In bowl add besan, rice flour and red chili, salt, asafeotida, turmeric and mix well
  • Now add little water and make like dosa batter( thick) . now dip all potato ball in batter
  • Heat oil and drop few and fry well till golden brown and drain out
  • Urullai Bonda is ready to serve.
